Abhishek Sharma Drives India's Fast Start

India lost Sanju Samson for three, but Abhishek Sharma immediately controlled the innings. He struck 69 from 30 balls and shared a 108-run second-wicket partnership with Ishan Kishan, who contributed 37.

The pair pushed India to 87/1 in the powerplay. West Indies fought back after Kishan's dismissal and forced a middle-order slowdown, but the early platform allowed India to keep moving towards a defendable total.

West Indies Fight Back, but India Reach 223

India continued to lose wickets through the second half of the innings and were bowled out from the final delivery. Tilak Varma added 28, while useful lower-order runs—including Prince Yadav's late boundaries—lifted the hosts to 223.

Shamar Joseph, Roston Chase and Shamar Springer took two wickets apiece for West Indies. Despite the recovery with the ball, the visitors still required 224 on a ground where India had already scored rapidly in the powerplay.

Arshdeep Singh Strikes Early and Returns at the Death

Arshdeep Singh removed West Indies captain Shai Hope for five in the second over. The left-arm seamer later returned to break the visitors' late push and finished with 3/44, earning Player of the Match.

Kamil Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer kept West Indies competitive, with Hetmyer scoring 43 from 26 balls. Naman Dhir broke an important stand, while Axar Patel dismissed Rovman Powell as the required rate continued to rise.

Rutherford Threat Ends India's Nervy Defence

Quentin Sampson and Sherfane Rutherford briefly revived the chase, but India continued taking wickets. Arshdeep's yorker to dismiss Rutherford was one of the decisive moments of the defence.

Shamar Springer finished with a rapid 35 from 11 balls and struck 22 runs in the final over, but West Indies could reach only 209/7. India therefore became the first team on the tour to defend a total and moved ahead in the series.

India Take a 2-1 Series Lead

The victory restored India's advantage after West Indies had completed a record chase in the second T20I in Ranchi. India's strong powerplay batting and Arshdeep's wickets proved enough despite a spirited West Indies response.

The teams meet again in the fourth T20I in Hyderabad on Wednesday, 14 October. India can clinch the series with another win, while West Indies need victory to force a deciding fifth match.
