Phillips and Bracewell Take New Zealand to 259

After India chose to field, Mayank Yadav dismissed Tim Seifert and Daryl Mitchell early. Finn Allen made 31 from 17 balls, but New Zealand were four wickets down for 112 when Michael Bracewell joined Phillips.

Phillips hit six fours and ten sixes in his century, while Bracewell scored 65 from 25 balls with four fours and six sixes. Their fifth-wicket partnership added 115 runs, transforming the innings and allowing New Zealand to finish on 259/7.

Duffy Strikes Twice in the Opening Over

Jacob Duffy removed Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan in the first over of India’s reply. Abhishek Sharma contributed 27 from 15 balls before Matthew Fisher dismissed him, and captain Shreyas Iyer made 22.

India needed 260 for victory. With wickets falling through the innings, the chase never developed the sustained partnership needed to threaten that target.

India Finish on 172/9

Tilak Varma top-scored for India with 35, while Naman Dhir added 28. Duffy finished with 4/23, Fisher took 2/40 and Mitchell Santner claimed two wickets as the hosts kept control of the chase.

Mayank had earlier been India’s leading wicket-taker with 3/48. The contrast between the two innings was decisive: New Zealand converted a middle-order stand into a large total, while India’s wickets kept their scoring bursts from becoming a competitive pursuit.

India Still Lead the Series 3-1

New Zealand’s first victory of the series ended India’s chance of a 5-0 sweep. It did not change who would take the series: India had already won the opening three games, including the six-wicket win in Wellington.

The fifth and final T20I is scheduled for 1 November at Seddon Park in Hamilton. India will look to finish 4-1, while New Zealand have the chance to claim consecutive wins before the tour moves to the ODI series.
